Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 April 2026

Broker Registry("we", "us", "our") is the business name of an Australian sole traderwho operates the website at the domain where you are reading this policy (our "Site"). We connect people seeking asset finance with brokers listed in our directory, primarily in Victoria, Australia.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), where they apply to us.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you submit an enquiry through our lead form, we collect the details you enter. That typically includes:

  • Identity and contact details: name, email address, Australian phone number, and your preferred time to be contacted (if you provide it).
  • Finance context you choose to share: for example asset type, whether you are buying or refinancing, purchase channel, price and deposit ranges, timeframe, whether the deal is personal or business-related, employment type, time in role, and any credit situation information you choose to disclose (including if you prefer not to say).
  • Whether you selected a specific broker on our Site or asked to be matched.
  • Whether you agreed to our privacy & consent terms at the time of submission.

Usage information

Depending on how you use the Site, we may also collect:

  • Basic connection signals used only to limit spam and abuse(for example so the same connection cannot flood us with enquiries). We do not rely on storing your full network address alongside your enquiry for ordinary operation of the Site.
  • A very general location hint such as country, where our hosting service provides it, to spot unusual traffic.
  • How you found us and related page context when your browser sends it (for example the page you started from, or campaign labels in the link you used).
  • A short-lived visit reference and an anonymous random ID kept on your device (first‑party only — we do not use this for ads on other sites). Together these help us see how the Site is used before you submit an enquiry (such as form steps, calculator use, broker profiles you viewed, and pages seen) and, if you send an enquiry, connect that activity to your submission.
  • A quality score based on what you submitted and how you used the Site before submitting, plus simple timing details (such as whether you sent your enquiry outside typical Melbourne business hours), to run and improve our matching process.

Brokers and listing operators

If you are a broker or represent a listing and use our claim, verification, or correction flows, we collect the information you submit through those forms (such as business contact details, corrections to listing information, and related content). That information is processed to operate and improve the directory.

Why we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide the directory and introduce enquirers to brokers.
  • Deliver and improve enquiry handling, including routing, notifications, fraud prevention, rate limiting, and internal operational reporting.
  • Send transactional emails related to your enquiry (for example confirmations) and, where applicable, messages to brokers or site administrators.
  • Maintain broker listings and process updates from brokers.
  • Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect our rights and users.

Disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Brokers you select (or brokers and administrators involved in matching you when you do not select a specific broker), so they can respond to your enquiry.
  • Service providers who help us run the Site, host data, send email, and secure our systems. Our application data is stored using Supabase; transactional email may be sent using Resend. These providers process information on our behalf under contractual safeguards appropriate to their role.
  • Professional advisers, regulators, or courts where required or reasonably necessary.

Some service providers may process or store data outside Australia. Where that occurs, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure overseas recipients handle information consistently with the APPs, as required by Australian privacy law.

Cookies and similar technologies

We do notuse third‑party advertising cookies. The anonymous device reference described under "Usage information" is held only for our Site. You can clear saved Site data in your browser settings if you wish; that may mean we cannot link earlier browsing to a later enquiry in the same way.

Security and retention

We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Access, correction, and complaints

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. To make a request, email hello@brokerregistry.com.au, or use our Contact page.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us at the same address first. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). Information about how to lodge a complaint is available from oaic.gov.au.

Not intended for children

Our services are directed at adults seeking finance introductions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice (for example a notice on the Site).
